The Gospels As Eyewitness Accounts

Many readers of this blog will know of Richard Bauckham's magisterial book, Jesus and the Eyewitnesses, in which one of the world's leading New Testament scholars makes a compelling case for the basis of the synoptic gospels in eyewitness testimony. However, the fact remains that most will not have got around to reading it, and may have been satisfied by the brief references in Keller's The Reason for God, or equivalent.

So it’s great that Peter Williams, of Tyndale House, Cambridge, has done such a good job of taking the big idea and turning it into a punchy, creative and fascinating one hour lecture. If you get a spare fifty minutes over the Christmas period - and let’s face it, who doesn’t? - this is well worth a watch. Heavyweight apologetics as it ought to be done.

This is by far the best apologetics I’ve heard in ages. If you know of more like this I’d love to know!

I heard Peter and his team at Charlotte Chapel, Edinburgh last year… Their work on Bible apologetics is excellent! I would love to invite them to do a day conference in the South East… working on it…
